What is scavenging?

Why are there no dead pests under my trap?

With traditional single-set traps if you haven’t seen a dead pest you know you haven’t caught one. And when you do see one, you know you’ve had success. It’s as simple as that!

We’re so accustomed to seeing dead pests trapped that way that it can be disconcerting if you don’t see any signs of success under your Smart Trap.

We’ve designed the Smart Trap so that pests are killed instantly but never held inside the trap. This means you will never need to remove a dead pest from the trap and you won’t need to reset it as you do with a traditional single-set trap. The Smart Trap automatically resets itself 24 times. As soon as the pest is killed, it falls to the ground and is usually scavenged within 24 to 48 hours.

A huge range of animals prey on dead pests as a free dinner e.g. cats, dogs and birds.

Rats will be tempted by your Smart Trap even if they see a dead rat lying underneath it. In fact, the smell of the dead rat under the trap makes it even more appealing! It’s common for rats to eat other dead rats, before going inside the trap themselves. They actually climb over one another to reach the paste!

Pets or pests that eat rats or mice killed by the Smart Trap are not at risk of being poisoned accidentally because our pastes are toxin-free. If your pet happens to eat a pest killed by the Smart Trap, you can be sure it’s safe.

The best way to know if your trap is working properly or not, especially if you haven’t seen a dead pest underneath it yet, is to use the Smart Cap as proof of your success.

The Smart Cap is a Bluetooth device that sends an alert to your smartphone every time your trap kills a pest and notifies you when to change your paste and gas canister (after 6 months or earlier if the trap kills 24 rats before that time).
